This Privacy Policy describes how netPanel ("netPanel", "we", "us" or "our"), based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, handles your personal information when you use our website, apps, devices and services (together, the "Service"). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we aim to respect equivalent rights for users in the EU/UK and elsewhere.
1.Who we are
netPanel turns any screen into a living dashboard — beautiful clocks, your photos, calendar, weather, world clocks, news, smart‑home controls and home cameras — set up from your phone and shown on the screens you choose. To do that, we process some information about you and the content you add. We only collect what we need to run the Service, and we never sell your personal information.
2.Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your name, email address, username and password (passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text).
- Billing details — your plan and, if you subscribe, payment information handled by our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers on our servers).
- Content you add — photos, calendar events, to‑do lists, notes, text, locations and the layouts you build to display on your screens.
- Support messages — anything you send us by email or contact form.
Information from connected services
If you choose to connect a service such as Google (for sign‑in, Google Calendar or Google Photos), we receive only the information you authorise — for example your basic profile, calendar events or selected photos — and only to show them on your screens. You can disconnect at any time, and we request the minimum access needed.
Information from your devices
- Device & usage data — device type, app version, IP address, time zone, and basic logs that keep the Service reliable and secure.
- Home cameras — where you use camera features, the video is intended to stream privately on your own network/devices. We do not collect or store your camera footage on our servers unless a feature you turn on clearly says otherwise.
3.How we use your information
We use your information to:
- provide and personalise the Service, and show your chosen content on your screens;
- create and secure your account and sync changes across your devices;
- process subscriptions and send essential service emails (for example sign‑up confirmation and password resets);
- provide support and respond to your requests;
- keep the Service safe — preventing fraud, abuse and security incidents;
- improve the Service and understand what's useful (using aggregated or de‑identified data where we can); and
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your photos, calendar or camera content for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
4.How we share information
We share personal information only in these limited cases:
- At your direction — for example with people you invite to a shared screen or account.
- Service providers — trusted companies that help us run the Service (such as hosting, email delivery and payment processing), who may only use the data to perform services for us.
- Legal reasons — where required by law, to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety and property of netPanel, our users or the public.
- Business transfers — if netPanel is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, and we'll notify you of any change in control or use.
5.Third‑party services
The Service connects to third parties to deliver features — for example Google (sign‑in, calendar, photos), weather and news providers, our email provider, and payment processors. Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant provider's own terms and privacy policy. Where we rely on Google user data, we use it only to provide the features you turn on, and we comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
6.Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep the Service secure, and understand how it's used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; turning some off may affect how the Service works.
7.How we protect your data
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information — including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and least‑privilege keys for the systems we use. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
8.Data retention
We keep your personal information only as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When you delete content or close your account, we delete or de‑identify the associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it.
9.Your rights & choices
You can access, update or delete much of your information directly in your account. You may also contact us to:
- request access to, or correction of, your personal information;
- request deletion of your account and associated data;
- export a copy of your content;
- disconnect linked services or withdraw consent; and
- make a privacy complaint.
Australia
You have rights under the Australian Privacy Principles, including to access and correct your personal information and to complain about how we handle it. If we can't resolve a concern, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
EU / UK
If you're in the EEA or UK, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, including the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability.
California
If you're a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
10.Children's privacy
The Service isn't directed to children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
11.International data transfers
We're based in Australia and use service providers that may process data in other countries. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it's protected consistently with this policy and applicable law.
12.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post a prominent notice on the Service and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
